Call For Abstracts

Oral Presentation

For all oral presentations a projector (for power point presentations) will be available in each session room for use by speakers.

“Best Student Oral Presentation Award” – if you want your research evaluated by the scientific committee to be eligible for the prestigious ISCE Best Oral Presentation Award, please tick the appropriate box.

Duration of oral presentations

Presentations selected from submitted abstracts: 15 minutes including time for questions.

Poster Presentation

For those authors invited to present a poster presentation, please note that you may be required to be present at your poster at a specific time on a specific day, and this time will be confirmed in your invitation letter. The poster display will be an integral part of the conference program. Your poster should be A0 format (or smaller), portrait orientation.

Abstract Guidelines


  • Use a short, specific title.
  • Abstract text should be no more than 300 words, including references.
  • Abstract text must be in Times New Roman, 12pt size, single-spaced, and left aligned.
  • Do not use all UPPERCASE characters in proper nouns.
  • Do not use special characters or images in the abstract.
  • Please use standard abbreviations only and in the body of the abstract spell out the name of all organisms and author in full at the first mention.
  • Your abstract should clearly outline the Background, Aims/Objectives, Methods, Findings and Conclusions where applicable. Subheadings are not necessary.
  • Each participant can send up to two posters; however only one oral presentation per person will be accepted.
  • Type the content directly into the text field, or copy and paste your abstract text into the text field. If you copy and paste, please paste from a simple text (.txt) file. Copying and pasting directly from a word processing document may result in problems with text characters and formatting.
  • Do not include the title and author(s) in the abstract text field on the abstract submission form. This information must be entered separately in the title and author fields.
  • Please be sure to review your submission before you hit “Submit”. If errors do occur – changes can be made until 17 April 2016 via a private link sent to you on submission.
  • Select a suitable symposium for your presentation. If none is applicable for your presentation, please select “others” and the let the scientific committee decide.
  • Poster presentation – your abstract will only be considered for poster presentation.
  • Oral presentation – your abstract will be considered for oral presentation. Should it not be selected for a 15 minute talk, you will be automatically be considered for a poster presentation instead.

Student Travel Award


ISCE is proud to support travel for students and early-career postdoctoral researchers to the meeting in Iguassu Falls, Brazil. Students from all countries are encouraged to apply. The Selection Committee will give special consideration to students from less developed nations. Awards may be adjusted based on expected costs of travel, but in the best case will only partially cover expenses.

Interested students should submit an abstract, CV, and letter of support from a research supervisor before 11:59 pm BRST, 22 February 2016. Applications should be combined into a single PDF and sent to Prof. Paulo H G Zarbin at pzarbin@ufpr.br (subject of message: ISCE travel award). Confirmation of acceptance for the travel award will be given no later than March 10th.

The total number of awardees varies year-to-year, but awards are generally given to 12-15 graduate students and early-career postdoctoral researchers. These awards are sponsored by the ISCE and a generous donation from Trécé, Inc.

In order to be eligible to apply, applicants must:

  • Be a member of ISCE or ALAEQ
  • Be graduate students or junior postdocs (within 2 years of graduation from PhD)
  • Present a talk or a poster at the meeting
  • Not have won a student travel award from ISCE in any previous year

With the promotion of the International Society of Chemical Ecology (ISCE), the Latin American Association of Chemical Ecology (ALAEQ) and the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), 1st Joint Meeting ISCE/ALAEQ, will be held in July 04 to 08, 2016, at Recanto Cataratas Hotel in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná State, Brazil.
